The Summer Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service is now accepting applications! The Early Deadline is December 5, 2008 with substantial scholarship funding available for CKP students.
Cassie Sanford, student coordinator at the Campus Kitchen at Gettysburg College, participated in 2008 and was able to work with CKP and DC Central Kitchen for the summer. Here’s what she has to say about her experience:
My experience this summer with The Fund for American Studies (TFAS) was truly life changing. Through my internship at DC Central Kitchen I learned valuable hands-on skills: I got to be a part of the exciting V3 Campaign and produce my own letter to the candidates, and I helped to collect relevant information regarding Political Action Committees (PACs) and to assess where V3 would fit into the political and non-profit world.
TFAS was a great program because I didn’t have to worry about finding an internship in Washington, DC–once you are accepted into the program you are guaranteed an internship. The classes that are a part of the Institute on Philanthropy and Voluntary Service were extremely interesting. They helped to put what I was doing at my internship into perspective. I also enjoyed all the supplemental lectures and tours that really made me take advantage of my time in Washington. TFAS is an excellent program that supports talented young students to shape and define their role in the non-profit sector.
