Show up every morning to open the kitchen and organize volunteers? Have your car keys ready at a moment’s notice if a restaurant wants to donate food? Stack and count donated cans in your free time? You could be eligible to win $5000 for school, and $5000 for hunger relief.
Sodexo food service company – the principle funder behind The Campus Kitchens Project – continues its campaign to give back with a reward for students fighting hunger.
Stop Hunger scholarships are designed to recognize the commitment students are making to combat hunger across the United States. Those who meet the requirements and apply before February 26, 2010 could see their work in campus kitchens materialize into $5000 if named a national Stop Hunger scholarship recipient and $1000 if designated a regional Stop Hunger scholarship recipient. With each grant, Sedexo’s foundation will give a matching amount to the student’s chosen charity. Up to 5 national grantees and 20 regional grantees can receive the honor.
What does it take to apply? If you’re enrolled in an accredited educational institution and have volunteered with no pay in the United States providing services impacting hunger in the last 12 months, you’re eligible. See official contest rules and access the application materials here.
