Allez-cuisine! If that phrase sounds familiar, the Cooking up Change contest that pits teams of three college or high school students against each other to dream up a local, nutritional and delicious meal might be your Campus Kitchen’s cup of tea – or pot of soup.

Have three budding chefs at your Campus Kitchen that like to work together to create original meals? Test your spatulas during the next meal shift and perfect a recipe that highlights the local ingredients in your home county, has considerable nutritional value and could wow a set of established foodies. Then head to the Cooking up Change Contest web site and apply online.

The online application requires nutrition labels, documentation of the process, and photos, so read it carefully before you fire up the ovens.

Once you complete the online form, a judging panel of culinary professionals will evaluate your dish based on format, clarity, cohesiveness of ingredients and originality. Three student teams will move on to the final round at Taking Root, the National Farm to Cafeteria Conference in Detroit Michigan. Judging takes place May 16 to 18.

Once your Campus Kitchen team makes it to Detroit by displaying your amazing cooking shift skills, you’ll have the chance to create and serve your meal for judges to evaluate on taste, texture, and presentation. (Yikes. No clamshells?)

Winners receive a trophy and other great prizes. How’s that for something to display in the kitchen?

We can smell recipe ideas cooking up already.
