As Gettysburg College was wrapping up its wacky Ten Ton event in Pennsylvania, a Williamsburg, Va. Campus Kitchen had a different way to celebrate reaching the milestone of 10,000 meals served.

The Campus Kitchen at William and Mary recognized the amazing achievement by holding a ceremony – complete with food and entertainment – highlighting other accolades the Campus Kitchen recently received. In addition to the accomplishment of 10,000 meals, this Campus Kitchen at William and Mary turns a lot of heads.

As the Campus Kitchen neared the 10,000 mark, coordinators learned the student group was named “Service Organization of the Year” at William and Mary for the second consecutive year. That makes CKWM the first organization to win the award twice – and they did it consecutively!

If university recognition wasn’t enough, the Campus Kitchen also received the “April Award” from the Points of Light Foundation. The Foundation embraces civic engagement as a tool fundamental to a purposeful life. Read more about the award here.

The official commendation from the Virginia House of Delegates

Even the state of Virginia stepped in to give the Campus Kitchen at William and Mary some much deserved recognition. The state passed a House Joint Resolution 394, which is a commending resolution sent through by the Virginia General Assembly commending CKWM for hard work and positive impact in the Williamsburg community.

Two representatives from the state of Virginia, in addition to the college’s a capella group, students, and staff attended the event.
