It’s time to get back into Campus Kitchens shape!
The CKP Boot Camp is a three-day training program each year available to leaders from current Campus Kitchens, and those who have already completed a feasibility study to become a Campus Kitchen.
Below is all the information you need to plan your trip, August 2 to 4 (from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
To participate in Boot Camp, you MUST fill out and return the registration form by Tuesday, July 20.

Traveling to DC
DC is very accessible by train, plane, bus or car. Keep in mind that the first session will begin at 9am on Monday, August 2nd, so please plan your travel arrangements accordingly. We can store your luggage at the CKP office if you arrive Monday morning.
Train: Amtrak serves Washington, DC. The major train station is Union Station.
Plane: Washington, DC has three airports for major airports: Dulles, Reagan National, and BWI.
Bus: Greyhound serves Washington, DC with stops in the suburbs in Virginia and Maryland. The Greyhound Bus stop is located at Union Station. Other bus options include inexpensive Chinatown buses from Chinatown in NYC to Chinatown in DC. One-way tickets are $20-$30, round trip fares range from $30 to $50. Some Chinatown bus lines: BoltBus, DC2NY, and Washington Deluxe.
Car: The major north-south highway is Interstate 95 (I-95). Other major highways into the area are Interstate 270 (connecting to I-76/I-70 to the north) and Interstate 66 (I-66) from the west. The Beltway (I-495) surrounds the Washington DC area. The Beltway connects to I-66 on the west (Port Royal), I-95/395 from the south (Richmond), I-95 on the north (Baltimore/New York), and I-270 on the northwest (Gaithersburg).
Traveling in DC
Metro is a great way to get to both the CKP and DCCK. www.wmata.com

Directions to The Campus Kitchens Project’s office:
- Take the Red Line to Union Station.
- Exit the stop via Shops end.
- Come all the way out of the metro station and do a 180 from the escalator (Union Station should be behind you and to your left)
- Walk towards Massachusetts Ave. and North Capitol (walk towards traffic).
- Turn RIGHT on North Capitol.
- Cross the street. You will pass an Au Bon Pain on your left at the intersection of H St and N. Capitol
- Turn LEFT on I Street towards the school – it is a series of buildings with a long parking lot
- Cross the length of the school. Our building Forte Hall, is the last building on the RIGHT.
- Take the elevator up to the 4th floor. We are all the way down the hallway on the RIGHT.
Attire and time
All days should be kitchen appropriate: long pants, closed toe shoes, and a shirt with capped sleeves.
Please note that through the week, we will be doing some walking, so please bring shoes that are comfortable for that. (You can change into them as needed) There will be free time at night to explore DC. We will meet every morning at the CKP national office by 9 am and we will end our day around 5pm. Please arrive on time since we have a lot to cover!
