We’re
big believers in the effective use of existing community resources
to provide for those in the community. Nearly 50% of our annual
budget (which for 2006 is about 1.2 million) comes from in-kind
and pro bono donations. We use existing kitchen space, existing
office space, donated food, volunteer energy, and donated professional
services to get our work done. We think it’s the best way
to deliver a quality program that won’t cost a school an
arm and a leg. The average Campus Kitchen costs about $40K a year,
which is mostly the full-time staff member, but then about $9K
worth of program expenses. Overall, a pretty lean operation.
For those things that we do pay cash for, CKP looks to a variety
of fund sources to support our operations. The main funding sources
of The Campus Kitchens Project fall into three categories: Corporate
and Foundation Support, Donated Goods & Services, and Individual
Contributions.
Our major corporate partners include:
- Sodexho Foundation
- General Mills Foundation
- UPS Foundation
- ARAMARK
- Kraft Employee Fund
- Roundy’s Foundation
- Target
- Land O’Lakes
- World Hunger Year
In addition to these excellent corporate partners, we receive
funding from individuals from across the country who support their
local Campus Kitchen or our work nationally.
We think our donors are amazing people, and we promise every
single one the following:
- CKP will show its investors positive returns on investments at the local and
national level.
- Donations and assistance will be used in the most effective and efficient
manner possible, and will not be wasted nor underutilized.
- All donations, in-kind or financial, will be acknowledged in writing in a
professional and prompt manner.
- Supporters will receive regular stewardship and communication regarding their
investments.
- CKP will maintain transparent and prudent financial practices and make available
information to investors who request it.
- CKP will respect the existing relationships of between our contacts and those
who introduced them to us.
