Poverty and crime have become prevalent issues in the local Jacksonville area. It is the community’s responsibility to reach out to their neighbors and try to bring them up from their downfalls. CKJU tries to fight hunger issues through utilizing donated surplus food along with the students vibrant energy and personalities.
Agencies CKJU serve:
Caroline Arms Apartments
(a low-income subsidy housing complex; roughly 200 adults & 400 children)
We provide dinners every Tuesday and Thursday, companionship with the residents, a safe place for them to go to, as well as resources for the betterment of their lives.
Hurley Manor
(an independent-living senior citizen complex)
We provide coffee hour “goodies” and the companionship the elderly.
Directions to the kitchen:
The campus kitchen is located at the Francis Bartlett Kinne Center.
This building is directly across from the Swisher Gymnasium.
Once you enter the Kinne Center make a left into the Crossroads Cafe.
