One thing that CKSLU does that not many people know about is it Culinary Job Training program (CJT). The CJT program seeks to give underemployed men and women the basic culinary, safety and sanitation, and job skills needed to get a job and succeed in the culinary industry. It is a 9 week program where chefs from through SLU’s campus and St. Louis come in and teach the trainees culinary skills. At the end of the 9 weeks the trainees take a test to become certified in safety and sanitation procedures in the kitchen. To date CKSLU has had 54 graduates from the Culinary Job Training program and on April 15th we will be celebrating the graduation of four more trainees.
