Congratulations to the new Leadership Team and Welcome

back volunteers!

Campus Kitchens will meet every 3rd Thursday of each month in the Marriott Kitchen (Building II) from 2:00pm-5:00pm for our cooking sessions. Delivery of the meals will take place from 5:45pm to 7:00pm.

Feel free to take a look at our “Volunteer with us” tab for activity dates and volunteer needs.

The University of Maryland, Eastern Shore, Campus Kitchens Program at the Universities of Shady Grove is part of a national program and its mission is to use service as a tool to:

  • Strengthen Bodies by using existing resources to meet hunger and nutritional needs in our community.
  • Empower Minds by providing leadership and service learning opportunities to students, and educational benefits to adults, seniors, children, and families in need; and
  • Building Communities by fostering a new generation of community-minded adults through resourceful and mutually beneficial partnership among students, social services agencies, business, and schools.

The Campus Kitchen at University of Maryland, Eastern Shore at Shady Grove is an embedded service learning program in the Hotel Restaurant Management Program where students practice management skills, manage kitchen operations, develop marketing and fundraisers to help serve the families in our partner agency. We have been working together with the Dwelling Place to provide over 200 fresh cooked meals every month to families. The Dwelling Place provides transitional housing and support services to families in Montgomery County with its goal being “Ending Homelessness one Family at a Time”.

By volunteering, either in the kitchen or on delivery, the experience will give you the opportunity to help The Dwelling Place families while learning something new and meeting new people!

We hope to see you soon!
