The
dream is really pretty simple: we want a Campus Kitchen at every
school that wants one. And, we want every school to want one.
The expansion potential for CKP is huge. There are thousands
of schools out there, each with a kitchen, a little bit of food,
and students eager to be engaged in community service (we’ve
got statistics on such things, but we didn’t want to bore
you). We’ve developed a model that works, and now we want
to take it for a spin and see what it can do. We’ve answered
all of the fears of the administrators, college chefs, students,
community members, and parents out there. We’ve got a program
that students love and college presidents endorse. We’re
ready to make it a household name, and we’re ready to bring
this idea to scale.
We’re not going about this growth business lightly. We’re
not interested in spewing out 100 semi-lame Campus Kitchens. Sure,
we dream of a national expansion that maintains the highest quality
meals, student experience, and community service possible. We
dream too of each and every Campus Kitchen delivering an exceptional
return on each invested dollar and being a model anti-hunger organization
in its community. And still we dream of becoming a business so
smart that students graduating from college want nothing more
than to work for CKP. But dreaming doesn’t get it done.
We’re working every day to make each of these dreams actually
happen. And when they do happen, the work doesn’t stop.
Every success must be evaluated, tweaked, and revamped. We know
we’ll have to change as students, schools, and the nature
of community service changes, and we’re under no delusions
of thinking we have all the answers. But we’re young. And
we’re ready for it.
