Regional Popup at CKWFU

On April 5th & 6th, 2019, students and staff advisors from 6 campuses convened at Wake Forest University for the Campus Kitchens Regional Pop-up Summit hosted by the Campus Kitchen at WFU (CKWFU). Students and staff from Campus Kitchens at the University of Georgia, Virginia Tech, East Carolina University, Fayetteville State University, Georgia Southern University, and, of course, Wake Forest University attended this event. Alumni Advisor, Lekisha Pittman, was also able to attend the event and represent Campus Kitchens Headquarters. Lekisha shared the following about her experience at this event:

“My experience at the Campus Kitchen at Wake Forest University Regional Pop-Up was an awesome experience! I gained even more perspective of a city that is so close to home (High Point, NC) and Wake Forest University itself. It was awesome to meet new faces, reconnect with familiar faces, and connect with a fellow AmeriCorps VISTA, like myself, that works with another Campus Kitchen! It was great to see and learn about the actual kitchen space that CKWFU uses. It is such a treasure to be able to serve on a produce redistribution shift to Anthony’s Plot. The sessions were very informative for the students to network and take back ideas on the work that they individually do. The alumni panel was extremely beneficial for students to know that their volunteer work with Campus Kitchen is more than just a one liner at the bottom of a resume page! As the Alumni Advisor for CKWFU, I am so proud of the work that they put into this Pop-Up, and I can’t wait to see what CKWFU will do next.”
